Power went out across the shire for almost seven hours on Sunday 1 December after lightning struck a power pole near the Coonamble zone substation.Essential Energy’s fail safe automatically cut electricity to nearly 2900 homes and businesses in Coonamble, Gulargambone and surrounding areas after detecting a system fault at around 3:35pm as severe storms hit the region.Parts of the shire were drenched in at least 150 millimetres of rain from Friday to and the weekend with high winds . . .
