Wet start no drama for 2024 grain harvest

PHOTO: Despite recent rain, agronomist Graeme (Weevil) Callaghan says there’s no need for alarm.

Harvest took an early pause in the last week as at least 40 millimetres of rain fell across the shire.

"We've had for the week, 50 millimetres, which is painfully ironic considering we would have loved to have seen that in the last two months," said farmer Henry Moxham on Wednesday 16 October.

He works a 5500-hectare farm about 20 kilometres west of Coonamble on the Carinda Road.
