Zoey Daley from Warren has received the inaugural Young Language Champion Award for her role in reviving the nearly extinct Wayilwan language in her hometown, Coonamble and Tamworth.
In July 2023, she delivered a flawless Acknowledgment of Country in Wayilwan in front of Wayilwan and Gamilaraay people at the First Nations arts exhibition at Outback Arts during NAIDOC week, according to Secretary of Warraan Widji Arts Karlene Irving.
